[Johannesburg, 22 July 2015]: Applied Filtration Services (AFS), supplier of the highest quality industrial filters, filtration equipment rental and oil analysis services to the energy markets in South Africa, has a discernibly bright future mapped out.
Ameer Mohamed, General Manager of AFS comments on the company’s growth path since its beginnings in 2010: “We started out as a division within the group, which meant that we could reach a great number of customers in the petrochemical and power generation industries. In 2012, it was our mandate to make the market, predominantly the power generation sector, aware of our oil purification machines available for purchase or rental. The push worked and we began a successful and ongoing campaign to rent these machines out to power stations.”
The remarkable growth shown by AFS came about as a result of identifying a niche in an energy hungry market for quality oil filtration systems. “There was a major gap in the market,” remarks Mohamed, adding, “We serve an industry that has and continues to show consistent and robust growth, something we pride ourselves on nurturing continuously. We’ve grown our sales and marketing team as well as our technical team, and as a result of this growth, we’ve even created a separate business aspect within the holding company for our equipment rentals.”
The remainder of 2015 looks set for further dynamic growth for AFS with a strategic focus on expanding filtration-related product lines and an emphasis on targeting the consumable market. “We’re constantly strategising on how best to enhance our product offering to chemical plants and power stations so that we not only supply a product to these markets, but well-considered, customised solutions to power generation challenges,” notes Mohamed.
Looking ahead to the future, AFS is preparing itself for further growth, building on strategies put in place for this year. “Energy, now more than ever, is in huge demand, and we expect that our energy division especially the rental aspect will see vast growth in the coming years. We also supply fuel plants, chemical plants and refineries, businesses that will also be enjoying marked growth in the foreseeable future,” confirms Mohamed. “And with a view to conserving the environment, the South African government will also be doing more to ensure cleaner fuels for South African people and businesses. These are all very encouraging signs and we’re positive that we will achieve our growth plans,” he adds.
As the exclusive distributor of Pall’s entire range of products in the fuels, chemicals and power generation markets, AFS is in a unique position to offer custom solutions to South Africa’s current energy crisis. Steven Witcher, Marketing Development Manager for AFS comments, “There is a notable opportunity here for Eskom, through our oil and water filtration product line, to draw from Pall’s international experience. Pall is a global giant in the power generation sector and over the years has amassed a wealth of knowledge that could be harnessed in service of consistent, sustained energy provision in South Africa.”
“We are 100% service orientated,” says Mohamed, “We supply our products on time and always meet our customers’ expectations. These are the principles that underpin how we do business and the reason for our ongoing success,” concludes Mohamed.
